Well, if you told me four years ago that learning to play the whistle would lead me here, I would never have believed it. Pete and I went on a great adventure this April and headed for County Clare, Ireland to explore this most beautiful and wild landscape and take in all the best of traditional Irish music. The tour was lead by Wild Atlantic Music Tours and organized by the delightful duo of Eddie and Robert. More over, our guide through the week was the indefatigable Kevin Crawford! From exploring the Burren to walking the quiet lanes of Inis Oirr to pulling pints of Guinness and climbing the winding staircases of castles - this week packed it in! In addition to all this, every moment was steeped in music! Playing the Mist Covered Mountain while on the very mountain about which that tune was written, hearing the greatest players of today's Irish traditional music not only play, but talk about their music and their history in person. This is an experience that will thrill me as long as I live. All through the week were moments that strengthened my love of this music and made me feel connected to the players who came before, and also encouraged me to feel that what we're doing with The Bookends is inviting a new audience to discover and love this music too.

I had the most amazing experience on the Wild Atlantic Music Tour. Eddie and Robert far exceeded any expectations I might have had. The ability to experience the music, culture and people of Clare at a very deep level was more than I could have ever accomplished on my own. The details, flexibility care and concern for our experience was over the top, and the genuine and deep care Eddie and Robert took to ensure our experience was exceptional was in evidence at every stop. The humour was abundant... it would take months to laugh as much as I did in one day! Fair play, lads!

I have just been on the Musical Tour of County Clare with Kevin Crawford. It was absolutely the chance of a lifetime and from beginning to end it was fabulous. From the very first correspondence with Eddie I knew I was dealing with a friend I just hadn’t met yet. Robert and Eddie provided absolutely first class accommodations and all sorts of extra touches that left nothing to be desired in any way. But the music was simply over the top. I am convinced that Kevin knows everyone in Clare, and they all make wonderful music. We had plenty of things to see and do, and the people attracted to this tour were from lots of different places but each carried a passion for Irish music. A more compatible, fun, diverse, interesting group I know I’ll never find again in one place. If you are at all thinking a tour like this may be for you, sign up now. The after-glow from the tour is still going strong. A week focused on a single county was perfect, and having Kevin Crawford as our host meant the craic was non-stop. A well thought-out itinerary, flexibility as events ran over (and why wouldn't they when we were all having so much fun), great accomodations, and a wonderful group of tour-mates made for a relaxed and enjoyable week. Oh, and did I mention the music? We were helping each other learn new tunes or trying new instruments in the morning, playing occasional tunes on the bus, finding Sessions in town at night, and of course listening to the fabulous array of storied musicians that Kevin somehow persuaded to join us for lunch or after dinner. Great stories, great music, much laughter, and a chance to visit many places memorialized in tune names. Truly a memorable week. Thank you Eddie and Robert!

Hi Eddie, We cannot stop thinking about and discussing and to be honest longing for the incredible time we had in Ireland. You, Robert and Kevin organised a truly perfect vacation for us that exceeded our expectations on every level. Cliché perhaps, but words truly cannot express how much we enjoyed ourselves. A little break from our parental responsibilities helped too!
